Eskilstuna top 15 Greenest Cities in the World for Recycling

Once again, Eskilstuna has distinguished itself internationally for the city's environmental and climate work. Waste Advantage magazine has ranked the world Top 15 Greenest Cities and Sweden are represented with both Eskilstuna and Stockholm.
Waste Advantage magazine's motivation is:

”Eskilstuna – Another little-heard name, but Sweden’s Eskilstuna is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world. Biofuel public transport and low-carbon power plants earn it this title – but the city’s 100% recycled shopping mall, Retuna, where all goods are donated by citizens and resold on, creating a truly circular economy.”

- It is gratifying that Eskilstuna's ambitious work in the environment and climate has resulted in Eskilstuna being on the list of the world's greenest cities. We will continue our work and need to take many steps at the same time, there is no time for anything else. In Eskilstuna, a climate program is now being developed, for and with actors from the public sector, business, the idea-driven sector and academia. It is crucial for the result that we work together to achieve the climate goals, says Kristina Birath, director of environment and community construction, Eskilstuna municipality.

Waste Advantage magaine mentioned Eskilstuna no later than 2019 when attention was drawn to the municipality's innovative recycling system.
